Health Screens

They say, 'Prevention is better than cure', on the lines of this famous maxim we at OMC screen our clients for the key risk factors and we combine these tests with many more to provide individuals with a tailored report on their current health.

Early detection of disease: treatment is more effective and/or less expensive
Identification of risk factors: goal is to modify the risk factor to minimise disease

Well Man Screen

It is a recognised fact that men attend the G.P. surgery far less than women and often present late with their problems. The purpose of health screening for men is twofold; firstly to identify problems early on and deal with them appropriately, and secondly to focus on problems that are specific to men such as prostate issues, testicular cancer and impotence. You may have specific or multiple worries which you want to address. Having the Wellman screen offers a good baseline to the health assessment process.

The screening process is broken down as follows:
  • Personal medical discussion and physical examination: A one-to-one consultation with one of our experienced doctors will give us a detailed background on your medical history. You will be asked about any past or current medical conditions so that your particular concerns can be established. Measurement of your Blood pressure, Height, Weight and Body Mass Index is then carried out.
  • Testicular and prostate exam: A testicular examination is useful in the detection of the cancer of the testicles. Testicular cancer is the most common solid tumour. If detected early and treated, testicular cancer is 100% curable.
  • Urine dip analysis: This analysis is done to establish the way your kidneys and bladder are working, can suggest the presence of a urinary tract infection, blood and glucose.
  • Blood tests: Blood tests include full blood count (which can highlight infection, anaemia, low platelets that could make you prone to bleeding, an immuno-suppressed state or blood malignancies), kidney, liver function tests, ESR (general maker of inflammation), glucose, calcium, phosphate and cholesterol profile.(Results within 24 hours)
  • ECG and Spirometry test: Whist the heart trace (ECG) is essential in a patient that suffers with high blood pressure, heart complaints or has had mini-strokes it can always bring to light undiagnosed heart conditions, possibly present since birth, but that can have a major impact on one's life if not diagnosed. The Spirometry test is used to determine lung function and to detect lung disease.
  • Detailed concluding medical consultation: Your examination results will be interpreted by the doctor. Any further tests or treatment will be arranged quickly and conveniently thanks to our links with a large network of specialists.
  • Medical report: A detailed medical report including all results, findings and recommendations can be collected from the centre within 24 hours of your visit or could be emailed/sent by post with your consent.

Well Woman Screen

It is essential that women have a full health screen. Over the past decade, a number of social and physical factors have been seen to have an effect on women's health. In general women are having children later in life, and for some, this has led to the discovery of infertility problems. Cases of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) have increased, as well as the number of women suffering intense menopausal symptoms. A full Well woman screen would offer great reassurance for any woman worried about her health.

  • Breast and pelvic exam: A breast exam can not only reassure you about your own technique in examining your breasts but also can reveal any previous abnormalities that went undetected.
